Pours into an oversized Cognac snifter. Deep reddish-brown colour with some ruby hues, and quite murky. Beige frothy head, which lingers ‘til the end with half a finger lacing. A rather unusual -for a Quad- nose, a tad acidic, that reminds us of sweet vinegar, red grape, raisin, with some woody and alcoholic undertones, courtesy of the aging process. It wouldn’t be far-fetched to say it resembles a Lambic, but in a moderate way. Intriguing…

Pours into a teku. Bright orange colour, entirely cloudy, with a white frothy head, that reduces swiftly to a thin lacing, escorted by the so called “wine legs” (for the sake of it all, we could substitute the specific term with “barley wine legs”…), lingering until the end. The utterly non-transparent, impenetrable, “juicy” appearance arouses our curiosity about what’s to come in the taste department.

Pours into a snifter. Intriguing mahogany color with a thin beige head, that dissipates rather swiftly. A very dark shade, even for an Imperial IPA.

Bourbon County Brand Stout 2014 by Goose Island -Imperial Stout craft beer review

Pours into a snifter glass. Darkness everywhere… Virtually no head, whatsoever. In the nose, we can detect heavy and rich aromas full of bourbon, which are accompanied by notes of vanilla, licorice, smoke, chocolate, ageing. Alcohol is rather present, but not overwhelming. A very impressive and promising nose…
