DEAD CONGREGATION Rehearsal 2005 review and bandcamp stream

I hate the feeling but sometimes you gotta be grateful to the bootleggers and other greedy bastards. It’s thanks to them that occasionally bands are forced to release to the public recordings that otherwise would have remain hidden, reserved to private use.

This is the case for DEAD CONGREGATION‘s “Rehearsal 2005”. Distributed to a few friends 10 years ago in homemade tapes and CD-R’s, it was destined to showcase “Graves Of The Archangels”‘ impending storm  with 5 of its tracks in raw form.

Some years later one of the copies surfaced online for sale and in order to prevent the inevitable bootleg, and in 2015 the band has decided to press the recording on 7″ wax as well as make available the digital version.

This was a bold move as few bands have the balls to officially display their more crude and unpolished side. Moreover, some of these tracks were still under construction and therefore changed before the band hit the studio. Two of them had also different titles, as “Morbid Paroxysm” and “Vanishing Faith” were then respectively named “Into Paramount Chaos” and “Diabolical Indignation”.

The sound is surprisingly good for a rehearsal, especially when knowing that the material hasn’t been edited, overdubbed or mixed.

Packaging-wise the band has opted for something minimal, and therefore the 7″ totally looks as if it has been released in the early/mid 90’s! The big central hole makes it look somehow even cooler.

A few words for the vinyl collectors. Even though this is technically a limited edition of 1000, the band will most likely repress it. However, you will probably want be on the safe side to secure your copy right now as the pressing sells out really quick.

Order it from Bandcamp or here – the former option offering an instant lossless download.
