Reverorum Ib Malacht “Ter Agios Numini” album review and soundcloud excerpt

I must give credit for discovering REVERORUM IB MALACHT to longtime comrade John Gossard (Dispirit, ex-Asunder, ex-Weakling)! Strangely enough, following his words of praise back in the early 10’s I haven’t instantly listened to any of their records. This is Read more

INFESTER “To the Depths, in Degradation” death metal re-release review and youtube stream

Re-releases of “best kept secret” type of old bands, usually package attractively mediocre quality content using 80’s/90’s nostalgia and vinyl fetishism. Even when the music is good, most such bands were mere clones back at the day, therefore their (re-) Read more

NECROBLOOD “Collapse of the Human Race” black/death metal album review and bandcamp stream

Parisian old-school metal band NECROBLOOD have penetrated violently my musical microcosm back in 2011. They have done so with the best credentials that an underground metal band could possibly have according to my book: a debut self-titled 7”EP released by Read more

Autoclav1.1 ‘ten.one.point.one‘ Album Cover

Autoclav1.1 is the brainchild of Tony Young, an authentic IDM/Experimental enthusiast who made his very first steps in the scene through his contribution in various music outlets as well as the release of his own fanzine “Black Harvest”. For those who knew Tony, it was only a matter of time before he would step up more actively in the music scene and start releasing his own work, you wouldn’t expect anything less from a person who dedicates most of his time to music either as a writer or a DJ.

Remember we wrote a couple of month ago about Mamiffer & Circle “new album titled “Enharmonic Intervals”? In particular we highlighted that “This is definitely an experimental release for both (more for Circle though as Mamiffer have already done similar attempts), and  this is the kind of album that will be either a point of reference in your music collection or something to be quickly forgotten. The final judgment is yours“. Read the Mamiffer & Circle “Enharmonic Intervals” CD review.

autoclav1.1-tenpointone

Autoclav1.1 announced on their facebook page today that their ten year anniversary album titled ‘ten.one.point.one.‘ will be released by WTII Records. Autoclav1.1 has gained a reputation for pulling on the deepest of human emotions with a variety of melody, frequently torn apart by paranoid beatwork and broken rhythmical structures. This Autoclav1.1 signature formula is ever present throughout Ten.one.point.one. From the dark soundscapes and haunting piano of “16a” to the break beats “Your Face Goes Here,” Autoclav1.1 continues to push new boundaries and proves things only get better with age.

Blitzkrieg Baby: Kids’ World EP Review

Blitzkrieg baby kids world ep

I have to admit that Blitzkrieg Baby chose the hard music road. Not that musicians can control their creativity and influences, but choosing a road full of soundscapes and electronic experimental sounds makes it always harder to appeal  than choosing the more commercial path, if I may say. Having said that, what we are dealing here is not simply an industrial EP, but a very specific industrial genre release that will appeal to few. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing!

March 15: Our Love Becomes A Funeral Pyre Album Review (Vinyl Only release)

march15

March 15′s newest vinyl release “Our love becomes a funeral pyre”, was maybe one of the greatest surprises that landed my inbox recently, as it brought up memories from my glorious industrial past back in 1999; when I first started spinning releases over the radio such as NON, DAF, Psychic TV and Suicide. The mastermind behind this LP release, Sami Albert “Witchfinder” Hynninen – who is mainly known to the wider audience for his participation with other bands such as TÄHTIPORTTI, REVEREND BIZARRE, THE PURITAN, OPIUM WARLORDS, SPIRITUS MORTIS and AZRAEL RISING, decided to wrap up some old school tracks (originally composed in 2004) and add a couple of new ones (2010 and 2013) in order to produce this “vinyl only” edition; which will be limited to 315 copies only and available on February the 14th.  Read more

Eva Polgár & Sándor Vály: “Gilgamesh” Album Review

Gilgamesh-album-review

Before starting this review a couple of words about Gilgamesh. The poem of Gilgamesh is, perhaps, the oldest written story on Earth. It comes to us from Ancient Sumeria, and was originally written on 12 clay tablets in cuneiform script. It is about the adventures of the historical King of Uruk “Bilgamesh” (somewhere between 2750 and 2500 BCE) whose prime aim was to discover the secret of eternal life. To date, only a few fragments of it have survived and if I remember correctly this is the first attempt from a band to try and release an album based on the particular poem.

DISPIRIT: Eerie And Oppressive

Posted on by panos.agoros in black metal, Drone, Experimental, Music | Leave a comment

Led by John Gossard, an emblematic figure of the North American underground (ex-WEAKLING/THE GAULT/ASUNDER), DISPIRIT is a menacing, creative force to be reckoned with.

Last May we had a small chat with John  about “111112”, their second full-length demo tape released in late 2012, also making the point about the band and finding out more concerning their unorthodox and enigmatic metal.
