Indie classic LIMBO is getting a Commodore 64 remake!

2010's LIMBO is one of my favorite independent video games. I originally played it on the Xbox 360, which was the platform that initiated me to  modern indie gaming, back at the scene's boom 10 years ago - other Read more

INFESTER “To the Depths, in Degradation” death metal re-release review and youtube stream

Re-releases of “best kept secret” type of old bands, usually package attractively mediocre quality content using 80’s/90’s nostalgia and vinyl fetishism. Even when the music is good, most such bands were mere clones back at the day, therefore their (re-) Read more

What made Justin K. Broadrick (Jesu, Pale Sketcher, Final,) revived his pioneering industrial metal act Godflesh  remains unknown, but I am more than happy to say that after 13 years of abscence the band is back full force with a new EP titled “Decline and Fall” (the band’s first new music in 13 years) and a brand new album “A world lit only by fire” set to be released this October. As a teaser they’ve shared “New Dark Ages” which you can listen below.

Interview with GRIDLINK: The Player Of Games

Extreme music and video games, Jon Chang’s passions are at the core of what Legacy Future represents. Involved in the music scene since an early age, he’s been the singer of seminal grindcore act Discordance Axis. His lyrics were deeply influenced by science fiction, video games, anime and mangas.

After D.A.’s demise, he continued to offer  quality music for a decade  via his new bands Gridlink and Hayaino Dasuki, while at the same time developing concepts, graphic novels and games via Echelon Software and the Black Powder Red Earth series.

Jon having recently announced his retirement from the music scene, which ended in a bang with the final Gridlink album, “Longhena”, we grabbed him up for a quick chat, catching up about his past and current endeavours.

Swedish death metal trio STENCH, featuring the members of Tribulation, is currently working on the follow-up to its 2010 debut album, “In Putrescence”. The band has entered Necromorbus Studio (Watain, Portrait) in Stockholm this May. Commented by the founding member, Jonathan Hulten: “The material has been in the making since 2010, and, along with the artwork, has accumulated enough power to swing your senses to the sky”. The album is slated for a autumn 2014 release via Agonia Records.

Randolph & Mortimer New Track “Existing, Not Living”

Posted on by Vassago in Electronic, Music | Leave a comment

In an age where electronic music as a genre is so obsolete with more and more bands claiming its precious tag (but in reality releasing the repetitive known to all electronic body music), Randolph & Mortimer new release is welcomed as a balsam to my wounded ears. For those not aware with the band, Randolph & Mortimer – who got their name from the movie “Trading Places” where two broker brothers do a ‘Prince & Pauper’ move with actors Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy. The names of these characters intrigued them and felt that it suited the message they wanted to express in my music” as they recently admitted on an exclusive interview with Decompression magazine – are playing electronic music mainly influenced by the late 80s and early 90s with influences from bands such as Nitzer Ebb , Ministry and if I dare to say Control Bleeding.

Enjoy their brand new “analogue” video, released moments ago.

Rippikoulu are back after 21 years with new album titled “Ulvaja”

Posted on by Vassago in Death Metal, Doom Metal, Music | Leave a comment

Rippikoulu Ulvaja CoverWell well if this isn’t the biggest surprise to date. The long anticipated third release from finish Death/Doom metal band Rippikoulu is set to be released in two weeks time!

Those not aware with the band probably didn’t realise that I am sarcastic since “Ulvaja” is indeed the band’s third release in….well 21 years, and to be fair noone saw it coming (how could you afterall).

Rippikoulu became known through a demo tape released back in 1993 “Musta Seremonia” resulting in the creation of some sort of cult/fanatic death/doom metal fan base, then noone ever heard a thing for roughly 20 years.

What did the Battlefield Hardline leaked trailer show us

Posted on by Vassago in F.P.S, Gaming | Leave a comment

As we were waiting impatiently for the next Battlefield release, a version of a seven minute trailer video was leaked titled “Hardline”.

Ten seconds into the video and it was as if I were watching the new “Grand Theft Auto” trailer. Things became a bit clearer around 00:30 when I noticed all familiar maps and guns from the latest BF4 release, which is cool but the new concept is all about war on crime (!?) instead of war on a Battlefield. I have to say right off the bat that I was not sure that a Cops vs Criminals concept was really missing from the Battlefield blockbuster, especially one where the story line is about the ethical dilemma of good cops thinking of turning bad the moment they face a mountain of drug stock worth a couple of million pounds. This would be a hard one to pull off and I can already visualise people being hesitant as to if this is a step towards the right direction or not for Battlefield. I will leave this out for the time being, as it will come down to personal preferences (some people will be happy, others won’t, and some will buy and play it anyway).
